Yes it might just be the best external sound card for your Vista 64 bit laptop. Though it says it supports 7.1 but on 64 bit system it doesn't, though 5.1 is working just well. Might seem little bit too much for a small black plastic gadget but it's an ultimate adapter and it has many wires coming with it so if you want to, you can connect your audio setup as you want it. Sound improvement is just huge. I had this nasty laptop integrated sound card which gave me low volume, over-boost at bass sounds and small scratching background... this made it all vanish and now I can enjoy really nice quality sound, it's loud and clear. I became fan of turtle beach products, if you are considering to buy it, do it !

this sound card is so easy to install. equipmentlist: dell 4600 desk top -optical cable- pioneer receiver . mp3 music playback crystal clear and movie playback from hard drive sounds good so far i have to fine tune my receiver.sound card low power consumption via usb does not tax your pc so no freeze ups .a little pricy .but driver problems, mp3 sound excellent ,it works ,and no pc head aches it worth the price
