Belkin Router for Advanced Wireless Installations
Belkin wireless networking provides the perfect solution for the most advanced, cable-free installations. This Wireless Cable/DSL Gateway Router (Router) uses the 802.11b wireless Ethernet standard to let you share a broadband Internet connection among your computers—without cables. The Router features an integrated 4-port 10/100Base-T Ethernet switch that allows you to connect wired computers for all the advantages of networking. It makes sharing files and peripherals, such as hard drives, printers, CD-ROMs and DVDs easier than ever.

The router offers advanced features for the highest level of flexibility. Using its firewall, the router protects your network from outside intrusions by hackers. Its IPSec pass-through allows you to work from another location using Virtual Private Networking (VPN). DMZ hosting lets you play accelerated games over the Internet.

Detailed Features

Features

  • Integrated Wireless Connectivity
The router has an integrated 802.11b Wi-Fi Access Point that allows you to connect wireless-equipped computers to the network without wires.
  • Works with Both PCs and Mac® Computers
The Router supports a variety of networking environments including Mac® OS 8.x, 9.x, X v10.x, AppleTalk®, Linux®, Windows® 95, 98, Me, NT®, 2000, XP, and others. All that is needed is an Internet browser and a network adapter that supports TCP/IP (the standard language of the Internet).
  • Front-Panel Connected LED Display
Lighted LEDs on the front of the router indicate which functions are in operation. You’ll know at-a-glance whether your router is connected to the Internet. This feature eliminates the need for advanced software and status-monitoring procedures.
  • Vertical or Horizontal Desktop Application
Your Router can stand vertically on the desktop to save space, or lay down flat on a shelf or under your modem. The included vertical mounting base lets you decide how to position the Router.
  • Web-Based Advanced User Interface
You can set up the router’s advanced functions easily through your Web browser, without having to install additional software onto the computer. There are no disks to install or keep track of and, best of all, you can make changes and perform setup functions from any computer on the network quickly and easily.
  • NAT IP Address Sharing
Your router employs Network Address Translation (NAT) to share the single IP address assigned to you by your Internet Service Provider while saving the cost of adding additional IP addresses to your Internet service account.
  • SPI Firewall
Your Router is equipped with a firewall that will protect your network from a wide array of common hacker attacks including IP Spoofing, Land Attack, Ping of Death (PoD), Denial of Service (DoS), IP with zero length, Smurf Attack, TCP Null Scan, SYN flood, UDP flooding, Tear Drop Attack, ICMP defect, RIP defect and fragment flooding.
  • Integrated 10/100 4-Port Switch
The router has a built-in, 4-port network switch to allow your wired computers to share printers, data and MP3 files, digital photos and much more. The switch features automatic detection so it will adjust to the speed of connected devices. The switch will transfer data between computers and the Internet simultaneously without interrupting or consuming resources.
  • Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) Compatibility
UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) is a technology that offers seamless operation of voice messaging, video messaging, games and other applications that are UPnP-compliant.
  • Support for VPN Pass-Through
If you connect to your office network from home using a VPN connection, your router will allow your VPN-equipped computer to pass through the router and to your office network. Built-In Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) "onboard" makes for the easiest possible connection of a network. The DHCP server will assign IP addresses to each computer automatically so there is no need for a complicated networking setup.
  • MAC Address Filtering
For added security, you can set up a list of MAC addresses (unique client identifiers) that are allowed access to your network. Every computer has its own MAC address. Simply enter these MAC addresses into a list using the web-based user interface and you can control access to your network.

The port forwarding doesn't work, at least for the game I want to use. Belkin hasn't put out any firmware updates for it all.

This is a horrible router. I bought one and it had issues dropping the wired connection. I exchanged it at the Mrkham location after the technician Devon agreed with me that the router had issues. I took another one that was sealed and it too was dropping the connection after about 5 mins. After searching Google for an answer, it is a known problem and hasn't been given a fix from Belkin. Tiger should drop this product until is resolved by Belkin. I expected better from both parties. Now that I have it and threw out the retail packaging, I have a new router for the landfill.

What You Should Know
How Much Memory Do You Really Have?
When you look at the specifications for a computer, it will display the installed memory, and typically the maximum memory that can be installed. However, while these are real values, they represent a potential useable memory depending upon the installed operating system, and other factors. The actual useable memory may be different (lower) from these values. The reason is simply that a computer may have a limitation in the operating system (such as Windows 32 bit versions), or configured to use shared memory, which reduces the amount of RAM that is available to the CPU by using some of it for other purposes, such as for video memory. In some cases, you can control the maximum useable memory through system settings, by upgrading from a 32 bit to a 64 bit version of Windows XP or Vista, or by upgrading to a video card that has internal onboard video memory.

But always remember, that the amount of memory that your system reports, is not always the amount of actual installed memory. For example, if you have 4GB installed, 32 bit versions of Windows will typically report 3.2GB due to a limitation of Windows itself.  Also note that different Windows programs report available and maximum memory differently, which can be confusing. If you find that you need more memory, we suggest expanding your system memory, since this is the most effective performance increase, and the one that is easiest to perform .
