First off, I have over 2 decades of IT experience - including some Linux background. We bought this Netbook to use on the go - in car when away from home. This Sylvania G Netbook is a total mess. The gOS operating system is a bad Ubuntu hack job. Good luck getting to a real terminal to do anything and synaptic is hidden also. Doing the smallest thing on the computer is a half day looking things up on the internet and posting to forums. It doesn't ship with an integrated CD/DVD - so you are going to have to outlay $60-200 to buy a USB type to load another OS on this unit. We installed gOS updates and haven't been able to get the WiFi working. While the CPU in this unit is a Via C7 @ 1200Mhz, gOS has the CPU locked at a mere 600Mhz - always. The OS supports CPU scaling and the kernel current when they burned these units supports scaling - but the fools that put these things together used an old kernel. Buy something else with your money.

Overall a pretty good little device! The key board is kinda tough to type on, and a usb mouse is highly suggested! The static pad was smaller than I expected, and tends to get hit a lot while typing. Finding the liux terminal was tough, but there is one there. The right shit key is in a weird place. All in all though, it's super duper!

Nice machine, but for those of us Linux impared was very difficult to operate. I had to send it back and get a similar machine with Windows. If you are a Geek should be fine,

The best buy ever! not all mini laptops have 1 gb of ddr2 and 30 gb hd. the webcam is really cool and the desktop is great. great internet browsing. very nice laptop!

I bought this computer to be my traveling companion. I took some pictures and tried to send them home, pain and suffering is the best I can describe my e-mailing pictures. For the rest the processor VIA C7-M ULV goes like a turtle which makes batteries last longer. For what this machine does, it turns out to be very expensive. Ali Zainy
