Laptop arrived with bad battery. Asus support was quick and professional and phone wait time was short, even at night. I had to send it back, but they returned it to me in six days at no cost to me.
Pros: It has handled every game I've run quite smoothly, though some require turning down some settings from max. Regular tasks are performed quickly as you'd expect. OLED display is nice, though proprietary. Hacks exist but are not simple. I like the ability to add a second HDD. Stability is rock solid. Asus fully supports Win7 with drivers and software.
Cons: Machine is not small nor light. Graphics and LEDs on lid are somewhat garish, finish smudges easily. Speakers are a bit quiet. Common custom key functions, play, stop, etc., require background software unlike other machines. Splashtop Linux environment is of questionable utility. Comparable systems are now available at slightly lower prices.
Summary: Very good gaming rig with which I'm quite satisfied |

Died in less than 6 months.

So, I was basically in love with the deal I got on this great machine. Then, about 5 months later, the damn thing shorted out on me. Short of replacing every electrical part just to find the issue, it's dead forever. |

An Excellent Laptop!!

I recently got mine a few days ago in the mail and I must say I had the same exact problems as the previous reviewer. It said that my copy of Windows Vista was not genuine and after I rebooted it popped up a big sign that said ''ERROR''. No big deal, I installed Windows 7 Ultimate and installed all the correct drivers and now it works wonderfully. Runs all games at max to almost max settings (being bottlenecked by the CPU, but if you have got some extra cash, you can upgrade it). I highly suggest this laptop not only because of the value, but all the features that it comes with. Just make sure you have you own genuine copy of Windows just in case it's OEM copy is not working. |

Ok so before purchasing this laptop I read through all the reviews and I noticed that the last few are negative ones BUT after only 2 days of processing my order I have this beautiful Laptop in my hands! No problems upon start-up and it runs games really well! Gotta love nVIDIA!! If anyone is debating whether to purchase this or not, you are a fool to let this opportunity pass! Go for it :D |

I know a refurbished computer is not new, but you are sold that it is brought up to new. The one I got... was exchanged the second day and so far has been sent in (cost me 60.00) twice now.
Support at Asus promises to call back but does not. I should have saved up a few more dollars and bought something else.
Not recommended at all. The only good thing is when it does run it runs well, but how long will it last is the question. |

What You Should Know
 |
|
What Is A Cell? It's a
battery
Though technically a battery has multiple cells, we are accustomed to calling a
single energy cell a battery as well.In
electronics, a battery or voltaic cell is a combination of many electrochemical
Galvanic cells of identical type to store chemical energy and to deliver it in
the form of electricity. The battery cells combine to produce more energy
(voltage or amps) than a cell by itself. When joined in this way, it is a
battery of cells. Almost all portable electronics use one or more cells -
rechargeable or disposable. The more cells, the more energy available -
meaning more hours of use usually.
In Notebook computers, the battery case usually
holds three or more cells. 3 Cell batteries tend to provide about 1-3
hours of use, depending on the energy needs of the Laptop. 6 cell (or
more) batteries provide much more energy, and many more hours of use. This
can be good or bad! More cells mean longer use, but more weight too!

So remember to always check for the number of
cells if specified, and choose the right configuration for your use.
Battery Trivia:
The invention of the first battery (known as a Voltaic pile) was in 1800 by
Alessandro Volta! The first known usage of the battery (as we know it
today) was in 1863 by the physician named Flora Bills. |
