Does exactly what it says, connects via firewire, and for a inexpensive camera has great battery life and control features. I do miss the viewfinder for bright light recording, but it certainly makes the camera more compact not to have it. |

If you are using this just to save memories it is a good deal. I have an older model of this company's camcorders that broke and I was replacing it with this one. I wasn't happy with the manual settings, my older one had more. I also had trouble using this one to transfer the old tapes to PC. The recording quality was good though for what I was using it for. |

Despite communication quickly back from the tech staff, the original problem I found and clearly stated in the manual was that this camcorder will NOT export through firewire footage taken or imported on other brands(my Canon models)of mini DV tapes without frame drop or audio cliches. So, for my needs, the JVC camcorder was not good enough to use for export of other DV tape brands to a computer, despite playing the tapes perfectly in the LCD screen. |
