The T-series Thinkpads are the flagship model in the Lenovo lineup. T61 is last year's model (replaced by T500), but features the classic keyboard design. The T500 keyboard is known to "flex" undesirably, so better to stick with the T61. This is a great machine at an excellent price. Just upgrade the memory to 3-4GB and it will be a rock solid performer.

This is an excellent value and price. Nearly the same features as the T500 at half the price. Compared to the T500 it has no integrated webcam option. Also, if you decide to upgrade to a SSD drive it will be capped to 1.5 GPS as the T500 is 3.0 GPS. For small read writes and daily usages this will not be noticeable if you go the SSD route. And if you decide to upgrade the wireless card to the N spec you can do this. I put in 4 GIG Ram for $30 and will get Windows 7 upgrade for free from Lenovo.

This was purchased at the beginning of July. I immediately upgraded to 4gb and it ran perfectly as described by the previous reviews.
However, the bsod (blue screen of death) began to appear increasingly, citing a "stop" error due to athr.sys. Eventually I began receiving those errors multiple times in a row at some points, whereas other times it ran fine.
With a little Google, I found that this error has been appearing in other Thinkpads since at least 2007.
Long story short, I manually updated the wireless drive two days ago and have yet to see the bsod. Hopefully it stays that way.

We bought to of these laptops for our field staff - our first criteria was the matte screen for daylight use .. we stripped all the "TrialWare" off them, got Vista configured the way our staff needs it - and WOW !! all the complains about Vista - but paired with this laptop it was amazing !!
