This Super AllWrite Drive can support all DVD formats: DVD+R/+RW, DVD-R/-RW, DVD-RAM. The LH-20A1L is able to rewrite certified DVD-RAM media at 12X maximum, write DVD+R DL (Double Layer) media & DVD-R DL (Dual Layer) media at 8X maximum, rewrite High-Speed DVD+RW at 8X maximum, rewrite High-Speed DVD-RW at 6X maximum, and read DVD-ROM media at 16X maximum.

The Lite-On 20x LH-20A1L features built-in SMART-BURN technology providing buffer-under-run-free function and great media compatibility for high-speed writing of DVD+R / DVD+RW / DVD-R / DVD-RW / CD-R / CD-RW media. It also has SMART-X technology - providing smooth & stable Audio CD / VCD / DVD playback and high-performance DAE / VCD / DVD data extraction. The LH-20A1L also has SMART-WRITE technology - a self-learning function, automatically detecting and deciding the optimal write strategy of DVD recordable media (DVD-RW & DVD-R) for the best quality. This multi-function drive works with Microsoft Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, and XP. It's SATA compatible.

For the price, this DVD drive was definitely worth it. It gets the job done, and, while a bit noisy at times, is very reliable. Having upgraded to this from some ancient IDE drives... I'm able to appreciate the difference a good bit. |

I bought this about 3 months ago and recently it had gone to crap and stopped reading dvd's. I try to update the firmware and it fails to recognize this drive. It has also always been on the loud side. Now it needs to be replaced, too short of a life in my mind. Makes me wonder if it was a fluke or if all Lite-on products will fail shortly after installation. |

I got this drive and put in my computer and it did not work. Put another drive in and it worked fine. Probably just a bad on so I bought another one. The one for $34.99. Compusa took it back with no problems. Hope My new one works. Will find out soon. |

Both Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron) 32 bit and Ubuntu 8.04.1 64 bit installed fine from this drive for me. Great price! |
