My original intent for buying this computer was to edit video. Although I was worried about buying a ''refurbished'' computer, all I can say is this powerhouse system has met and exceeded all of my expectations.
With it's one Gig of memory it easily handles all of the video rendering and photo editing I can throw at it. The serial ATA drive works fast and the computer itself runs very quiet. If it weren't for the light, you'd never know it was on. The fans are noisy when you first plug it in and start it but after about 30 seconds they slow down and become whisper quiet.
After buying this system I've never looked back and would recommend it to anyone needing a computer with serious horsepower. |

Great bargain. Ordered it May 18 and it arrived on May 23. Quiet, powerful, and loaded with features. So far, I'm impressed with the XP Media Center OS. It is a pretty big, heavy machine, but who cares? And the price is now 20 bucks less than it was 2 weeks ago. Grab one of these while they last. |

Kick'n performance! Just got my system, and it is humming along at top speed. Combined it with a wide aspect 17 LCD monitor, and it is beautiful. Unfortunately my DVD burner is having some problems, so I have ordered a replacement for this unit, and will be sending the original one back when it arrives. All in all though you can't beat the price.
The Windows Media Center is amazing! It has leveraged my cable subscription in a way I never imagined. Think TIVO without the ongiong fees. Microsoft has even come up with a remote feature for setting up recordings that you may have forgotten about before you left the house.

Nice pc, bigger box than other comparable pc's and quite heavy. Quiet fan operation, but the Western Digital hard drive is noisy. When drive is accessed you can hear it. It is fast, my primary use is to burn dvd home movies. Speakers offer decent sound. |

XP Media Center Edition offers the features, reliability and power of Windows
XP Pro, plus advanced digital entertainment capabilities. Windows XP Media
Center adds layers of depth, richness, versatility and…magic to the amazing
Windows XP operating system.
All-in-one functionality gives you more types of entertainment to enjoy:
TV, Personal Video Recording (PVR), Movies, Music, Pictures, Videos, and
Radio. Take control of your TV. Watch and pause broadcast television, or
record your shows and replay them at your convenience. Record a single episode
or an entire series, with or without reruns, on one channel or across all
channels. Use the Program Guide (Guide) to search or browse listings, select
channels, and set recordings. Enjoy DVDs, downloaded movies, or edited home
videos with rich picture and sound quality.
Copy
music to your media library automatically when you insert a CD in the CD-ROM
drive. Then, browse and play music by album, artist, or genre. Launch full-screen
visualizations during playback. Build your own playlists or let Windows
Media Player build them for you by selecting the music you play the most,
or at night, or by whatever criterion you select. Enjoy slide shows of your
photo albums with dynamic transitions and remote-control navigation, zoom,
pan, and print. Want music with your slide show? Start your playlist and
then start your slide show. Radio-enabled Media Center PCs include a full-featured
FM radio experience, including station pre-sets and a seek function. Or,
use your Internet connection to listen to your favorite Internet radio stations.
Browse a list of your recorded TV shows
episode to select the one you want to watch. N The Info Inset shows you
the details at the bottom of the screen. The slow motion advance and rewind
functions ensure you never miss a move. Browse the Guide for up to 14
days of programming in an easy-to-navigate, grid-based view. Customize
the Guide by adding or removing channels. View the listings or display
only the scheduled channel lineup for a specific channel. Use genre filtering
to display only specific programming content, such as sports, movies,
news, music, or kids.
With
features such as pause for live TV and auto-record, you're in control
of the way you watch movies, sports, and any other televised program.
While watching TV, press PAUSE on the remote control to "freeze" the program
for up to 30 minutes. When you're ready to start watching again, you can
skip ahead 29 seconds, rewind, and fast-forward through the recorded show.
A pause buffer automatically captures the last 30 minutes of live TV,
so you can rewind any time you're watching. Rate your favorite songs on
a 1- to 5-star scale or let the built-in Auto Ratings assign ratings based
on number of times played. Don't worry about missing a play, you can instant
replay the last seven seconds of live radio. Or, skip forward by 29 seconds
through previously paused radio.
