Step One:
Capture
After you've installed Studio, attach your camcorder to your video capture
device, and capture the video clips you want to use in your project to your
computer's hard drive. |

Step Two:
Edit
Import your video clips, then drag-and-drop them onto the editing timeline.
From there, trim the clips, add a 2D or 3D transition and title or two,
and sync the whole project up with your favorite music (Studio supports
CD, MP3, and WAV audio). |

Step Three:
Output
Add menus and chapter breaks and burn a disc that can play in your living
room DVD player. Studio saves your finished movie in any number of formats,
including AVI, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, RealVideo, or Windows Media Format. Use RealVideo
and Windows Media Format to export your video to the web, and use MPEG-1
and MPEG-2 to export your video onto VCD, SVCD, or DVD. |

No complaints. For the price, it works great. Don't expect a high end system, but for home use I am very happy. It can be a little unstable when editing. Also some of the better effects require purchase of activation keys, that if you want all the better effects it can run you over $100. |

Price can not be beat. I would have given it a 5, but found a bunch of tweaking I had to do. First had to upgrade Studio 9, Install a Pinnacle PCI accelerator for my USB 2 card, and if you dont create chapters, it does not take so long to render when done recording. Still a little grainy at highest settings, but guessing there is other settings to tweak. |

Works fine on my Win2k box with an Athalon XP 2000 and Radeon 9600 XT. 8mm conversion picture and sound are good for normal TV, somewhat grainy on computer monitors. Initially had problems with capturing, but worked great after I wiped the hard drive, reloaded the operating system, and loaded Pinnacle and updates. Make sure your computer at least meets the specs (especially a directx 9 compatible video card). |

I would have given this a higher rating but...
Well when I first got it, it worked great. I figured out how to get the video to go more smoothly and I managed to do a few videos that came out great.
When I moved my computer desk and reformatted my laptop the Moviebox wouldn't work. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers and everything - I tried the same on a different computer, I tried using different capture software and tried to use it to show my computer screen on the television and none of it worked. Pinnacle support has been slow and keeps telling me to uninstall and reinstall the drivers. I think I got a dud which is not a big deal but I need to have it repaired or replaced and I have projects building up from customers that need to be done. Pinnacle is slow to figure out this is a hardware issue.
I tried different sets of USB cables, have brand new top quality composite cables, and even tried connecting by S-Video.
When it did work it worked great! |

I love this product. The software is easy to use and the product is great. I was completely surprised when the moviebox was taken out and was metal, not plastic. Highly recommended product. Why does it say refurbished, it looks brand new. |
